Through bold and intimate self-portraiture, Laura Jean Sargent’s series, She Smells Like A Gun, explores the cyclical nature of the Female and all she goes through from week to week, month to month, year to year. Sargent pays homage to Women’s intrinsic creativity, which she finds seated in the womb.

 

Along with the ability to create comes the converse; the potential to destroy. And so, the Woman holds a weapon not in her hands but buried in her body - a powerful place that can battle with her brain as fiercely as it can nurture her soul.
